Locutor is built so that what you say stays with you.
What Locutor processes. When you dictate, Locutor records audio from your microphone and turns it into text on your device. If you choose a tone, a language model also running on your device rewrites that text.
What leaves your device. Nothing you say or write. Audio is never sent anywhere. Each recording is saved as a file on your device, so it can be played back or transcribed again, and transcripts and rewrites are saved in a local database there too. You can export or delete them in Settings at any time. Locutor has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers.
Network use. The first time you pick a model, Locutor downloads it from locutor.lucasgelfond.online, a mirror of the published models hosted on Cloudflare. These are ordinary file downloads, and no personal data is sent with them. Cloudflare may log standard request information, such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
The keyboard. The Locutor keyboard asks for Full Access only so it can talk to the Locutor app on the same device (to start and stop dictation and receive the text). The keyboard does not record keystrokes and makes no network requests.
Your data, your control. You can export your history as a SQLite file from inside the app, delete individual entries, or delete the app to remove everything.
Children. Locutor collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
